Gaskets for Air Receivers

VSeal Gaskets
March 27, 2026

gasket is a mechanical seal which fills the space between two or more mating surfaces, generally to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression. It is a deformable material that is used to create a static seal and maintain that seal under various operating conditions in a mechanical assembly. For pressure vessels/air receivers/boilers, gaskets are often used to seal inspection doors and are fitted between the pressure vessel and the oval inspection door/mud lid (for old boilers)/ McNeil type door and are often replaced during/after annual inspections.

Gaskets allow for “less-than-perfect” mating surfaces on machine parts where they can fill irregularities. Given the potential cost and safety implications of faulty or leaking gaskets, it is critical that a high quality, correctly chosen gasket is selected to fit the needs of the application, which is why we sell different gaskets and to precisely fit every vessel we sell, as well as gaskets for all regular pressure vessels. These include;

EPDM; made of a black plate finish sheet with superior resistance to weathering, ozone and UV exposure. EPDM gaskets provide excellent chemical resistance, and good electrical properties. EPDM gaskets resist animal and vegetable oils, steam, water and oxygenated solvents

Spiral wound; precision formed using a ‘V’ shaped metallic winding strip, used for special vessels as they have considerable mechanical strength, good recovery characteristics and provide an extremely effective seal over a wide range of operating conditions (up to +1000°C , steam, chemicals, oils and hydrocarbons)

Silicone; Silicon gaskets have a water-repelling material that repels liquids, resists moisture, and maintains a watertight seal, and good for fairly high temperatures.

NAF (non asbestos fibre) gaskets; A compressed non-asbestos sheet material based on aramid fibre and recycled material, with a nitrile rubber binder system. General purpose material suitable for low temperature applications including: hot and cold water, low pressure steam, oils, fuels, gases and a wide range of general chemicals.

If you need gaskets for your pressure vessel replaced we have a huge stock of types and sizes so if you want a hassle free route to getting it done, ring us on +44 1636260438 or drop us an email at . We’re always happy to talk.
